Basic primer for those seeking understanding to the traditional belief of the Yoruba, Ifa. Introduction to the Orisa. This book, Ijo Orunmila by Babalawo Fasina Falade, is such a blessing and treasure. I highly recommend it for not only us (Ifa devotees) seeking knowledge and truth, but those interested in a traditional African belief system. I whole-heartily appreciate the way that Baba Fasina has taken time out to explain in detail everyday terms that we use, but probably never knew or understood the true meaning of, such as: Olorun, Iwa, Otito, and Suuru, just to name a few. What's good about this book, besides the sections on Oriki, the Odu's, Libation, etc., which we use in daily worship, are how he correlates it all together as the beautiful and spiritual tradition we know as Ifa. Each section is insightful and in my honest opinion, dispells any mis-conception on how our tradition is perceived or practiced. Baba, adupe pupo (thank you very much) for hearing the call and answering it by writing such a wonderful and inspirational oracle. Amazon.com's standard return policy will apply. When I visited Havana in 2002, I was very fortunate not only to meet the great cantor of La Regla de Ocha (aka Santeria) praise-hymns, Lazaro Ros, but also to participate in an initiation ceremony for which he was the lead singer. Unfortunately, he died not long after. He was a marvelous human being. I knew when I ordered this cd that his performance would be great, but I wasn't sure what the quality of the recording might be like. Both are superior. Whenever I play his songs to the Orishas (gods & goddesses or saints), he seems to live again. I strongly encourage you to purchase and play this album.
